Photo Shoot #115 - Dog Sledding in Iceland

Having been a "natural" at dog sledding almost 20 years ago, I knew Jennifer would have a blast dog sledding in the dress. We hooked up with Siggy and Klara of http://www.dogsledding.is/ and set forth for an ambitious shot, sledding the dogs at sunset on a glacier. A simple plan fraught with challenges. As Siggy said, "Weather reports and tarot cards are the same in Iceland. Nice to look at, funny, but not reliable." A storm rolled in and nearly canceled out shoot. However, we braved the weather and drove the 3 hours to the glacier. The knuckle-whitening drive would have been fine in a 4x4, but our hamster driven econo-box was barely up to the task. Clearly we made it and while the weather held up enough to let us shoot, we had virtually no useable light. Of course, this was at 11:30 PM, so we couldn't complain too much. On the bright side, Siggy's staff was incredible. They completely understood what we were trying to do and were incredibly helpful setting up the shots, keeping Jennifer "warm" in-between them, and helping me "create" light. If you ever get to island, be sure to include a trip to the glacier and their family of 39 dogs on your trip.
